Today, about 36 percent
of Americans spent their time communicating and networking across social
networks, blogs, personal email and instant messaging, according to the Nielsen
Company’s research. The topic of this blog is to present the research results
on what Americans do online through the Nielsen Company’s research. The purpose of this study is to show
Americans that social networking and playing games online were the top two activities
that people in the United States do when accessing the Internet. This research points out that Americans
spends a third of their time online, which is about 36 percent, communicating
and networking across social networks, blogs, personal email, and instant
messaging. Even though playing games
online beats emailing among Americans’ time on the Internet, emailing is still
highly used. The Nielsen Company collected
these information through online categories visited from PC/laptops. I found this research to be useful due to the
information it depicts and how much social media plays huge a role in the lives of
Americans nowadays.
